A superb mix of old fashioned annuals and perennials.(they
may not all come up at the same time.) They are easy to plant
and grow. Ideal for introducing gardening to young people.
Varieties include some of the following: dianthus barbatus,
calendula officinalis, zinnia elegans, cosmos bipinnatus,
centaurea cyanus, eschscholzia californica.
All of the above varieties are reasonably fast growing, they may
be sown together in a seed bed then transplanted later into the
garden. Alternatively seed may be sown thinly and directly into
a garden bed with a light covering of soil and then allowed to
grow naturally. Make sure weeds are not allowed to compete
with the young plants at any time during growing season.
